Why Doesnt Windows Media Player Show the Albu Art and Wont Let Me Add It
Well...!! - I read this q terminal night only after you lot first posted information technology and 12 hours later no-one has tried to reply so I'll have a go...y'all've kind of raised a lot of bug in one!
First allow me say I don't piece of work for MS, and I'm not a smashing fan of the (external) fai. metadata service used by WMP for album info. 'Gracenote' - the service used past iTunes is IMO much meliorate. That existence said in that location must exist a good many W7 -WMP users like myself who don'tactually have any problems setting and maintaining album art (and info) the manner they want it. Then I suspect where it does go wrong there is some other issue present (e.g. a software conflict) or an wrong setting in WMP itself.
My side by side betoken is that when information technology comes to updating or correcting album fine art 'Find (or Update) Anthology Info' is non the all-time route...(I empathize your Q is partly directed at MS asking why they cannot amend on this - not for me to say) and in my experience it is all-time used only when ripping an unidentified cd. Once in the system it is better to change data manually in WMP. Correct anthology art can easily be found online and copied and pasted to the fine art box in WMP.
The existing artwork on your pcs is in hidden files and folders (below is a snip of mine showing its main location in app data) - hidden copies are too inside the album folders in 'My Music' )
I hope my observations are of some interest and delight let me know if y'all wish me to give more particular...All-time - R>

Cheers, Richard, for responding. I capeesh you taking the time to share your knowledge and feel.
First, I totally agree with you that the fai.metadata service is non very expert at all. However, I did not know you lot had any choice, at to the lowest degree not when you are right-clicking on the epitome in WMP and selecting the correct image. It sounds to me like y'all are suggesting that, for every album from which I have songs in WMP, I should manually go to a site like Gracenote and save the prototype, and then manually place it in WMP for the album. If that is what you lot are recommending, that is a procedure I take used for a number of albums that were not in fai.metadata and for a few "imaginary" albums I have created on my own. Otherwise, I believe I have over a hundred albums from which I accept songs in WMP. That would take a long, long fourth dimension to do manually. However, that may be what I somewhen take to do whenever I can gear up bated plenty time.
2d, I would not be surprised to detect that I practise have either a alien software or improper setting somewhere. I but don't know how to locate something like that. Every bit I said, I take tried irresolute the WMP settings in every way I could imagine, but nada seems to piece of work.
Third, whenever possible, I do brand all of my edits while in WMP. This seems to work fine with song titles, artists, album titles, etc., merely for some reason, not with album art. I just don't get information technology.
Fourth, ane of the suggestions I have followed in the past has been to change the binder options so that I could see all hidden files, then go to the C:\Users\Dan\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Thespian\Art Cache\LocalMLS folder and delete all of the images. I accept even followed a proffer to become to C:\Users\Dan\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player and delete all of the files and folders, then let WMP rebuild the database(s) and relocate the images. I have also deleted all album fine art files and the folder.jpg within those folders in which song files are located. None of these ideas worked.
I accept even followed a recommendation to uninstall WMP, reboot, and reinstall WMP using the option on the Programs and Features page. This was also supposed to rebuild the databases, only it likewise did not alter anything. Watching the mode it works, I believe the metadata stored in each song file is overriding everything else I do. I have not tried to update that exterior of WMP because I don't know if there is a way to do so without a special program.
I have tried all of the ideas yous suggested again tonight, merely the anthology fine art images in WMP are not being corrected. I'thousand open to any other thoughts from yous or anyone else.
Thanks.

You lot do seem to have tried well-nigh of the options...I keep a folder in 'My Documents' containing sub-folders of downloaded anthology art (in A-D; E-Grand etc. order or by genre for 'Folk' or 'Classical' to facilitate location) and quite often I use the snipping tool to create a jpeg image rather than actually downloading...(important note here...anthology art needs to be jpeg - png doesn't work) - I don't download album art from any specific site - I but do a 'Google Images' search to find the best example of what I need. (I've fifty-fifty resorted to snapping my own vinyl covers when I haven't institute an image I like!)
One pick you may not accept tried is opening a new user account. This is a useful diagnostic tool because information technology shows u.s. if WMP is behaving as expected there. If and then it suggests a disharmonize of some sort on the main account (and if not something in the system). Open a new business relationship (from control panel - user accounts - only not the 'invitee' acc.) prepare upwards WMP using your preferred settings and rip (or copy over) a few test albums and endeavour changing the artwork using the copy/paste method - encounter what happens.
When it'due south working well information technology should be possible to reach results like this - different tracks all inside i folder with their individual artwork...

Thanks, again, Richard.
I do currently have my music sorted into subfolders for MP3 and WMA, subfolders for artists, and subfolders for albums. And then the song files are placed under the right album binder. I also accept a subfolder under music for anthology art, which more often than not contains the edited images I am using for those "imaginary" albums I utilize when a real album does non exist.
I will effort your idea of creating a new user profile. I can't do it tonight because of family events, but perchance tomorrow. I'll let y'all know what I find.

The chances that yous volition become a response from Microsoft hither are vanishingly small. Furthermore, the chances that any substantive changes will be made to WMP are too remote, I'm guessing, considering with Windows ten nosotros at present take Groove Music and WMP seems to be being deprecated in the same way that Internet Explorer is being pushed backside the curtain by Edge.
